The Sandman Vol. 1: Preludes and Nocturnes

The Sandman, Vol. 1: Preludes and Nocturnes - Neil Gaiman, Malcolm Jones III, Karen Berger, Sam Kieth, Todd Klein, Mike Dringenberg Reading Sandman series volume by volume. By far, 24 hours, Sleep of the just from volume 1 and Calliope from volume 3 are the best stories in the first 4 volumes that I have read.

There are some other mildly interesting stories and many other disappointments. But, if I had to chose the best of the stories that I have to chose, it would be 24 hours, hands down.
Mysterious, eerie, psychological, strange and insightful.

Volume 2 was a complete waste of time and volume 4 started with a great premise that fizzled into boredom and disappointment halfway through. Neil is accused of using deus ex machina to resolve the problems instead of having the characters make decisions and after volume 4, I tend to agree on that.
